John D. Alexander, born April 5, 1832, and was a son of William and Mary (Moore-McReynolds) Alexander. He married Lucy Zook (who is buried at Pulaski Cemetery) and they had one son, Arthur. After his mother died, Arthur stayed several years with his uncle and aunt, Robert Wilson "Brock" and Phoebe Anna Alexander in Augusta, IL.
John was injured in the line of duty as a Sgt in Co. D 8th Kansas Regt. While he was unsuccessful in ever getting a pension, he died only a few years later (Mar. 27, 1868) undoubtedly from complications of those very wounds. He was 35 years, 11 months, and 20 days of age.
