Hazel LOCKHART, 81, of Booker died March 18, 2000 at Twin Oaks Manor.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 21, at Booker Christian Church, with Jim O'Banion officiating. Burial was in Heart Cemetery, under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker.

She was born May 30, 1918 in Booker, the first child to be born in the City of Booker. She graduated from high school in 1935 and attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, before returning to Booker, where she worked at the post office.

She later began working at the bank in Booker, and became an income tax preparer for over 60 years. She married Bob POUNDS in Booker, and they lived in Lubbock, before moving to Perryton. They owned and operated Pounds Home and Auto until her husband's death in 1948.

In 1954, she married Arch LOCKHART at Beaver, Oklahoma and they moved to Booker. After his death in 1967, she continued to live in Booker until moving to Twin Oaks Manor in 1996.

She was a member of Booker Christian Church, where she played the piano and taught Sunday school for several years. She was also a member of a home demonstration club and garden club.

She is survived by one son, Robert POUNDS of Temple; two daughters, Judy CHIZEK of Austin and Cindy HIPSKIND of Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother, Edward PULS of Perryton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
