Funeral services for Mr. James C. Monroe, Jr. age 88, of Gilbert, LA will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 29th, 2006 in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Dr. Milton Williams officiating, assisted by Rev. Don Blackmon.

Interment will follow in South Central Cemetery near Wisner, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.

Mr. Monroe was a graduate of Mississippi State University and served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1946. He taught Vocational Agriculture at Gilbert High School for thirty-seven years and was FFA Advisor. He received the Distinguished Service Award in Agriculture Education and the Honorary State Farmer Degree from the Louisiana FFA. He was a Mason for more than fifty years and past Master of Dan Gilbert Lodge No. 405. Mr. Monroe was also a charter member of Barak Shriners, the Greeters Unit, and Macon Ridge Shrine Club. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Gilbert and a farmer.

Survivors include: Wife of fifty-eight years: Katie Monroe of Gilbert, LA. Son: Jim Monroe and wife, Connie of Baton Rouge, LA. Grandsons; Chris Monroe and wife, Lindsey and Darryl Monroe and wife, Natalie. Great Grandson; Ryan Ellis Monroe.

Pallbearers are Johnny Carroll, Ty Britt, John Jones, Billy Giltner, Leon Monroe, and Joe Monroe.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 28, 2006, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro.

Masonic Services will be held at graveside.
