Mr. Hunnell was a native of Jackson Township and had resided there until about ten years ago. He was a son of the late Jacob and Mary Duvall Hunnell and was one of 10 children. He served in Co. K of the historic "Fighting Tenth" Pennsylvania Infantry in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War.
He was a member of the Willow Grove Christian Church in Jackson Township, which he joined early in life. Also of the Thomas C. Crago Camp, United Spanish War Veterans.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rocella Jane Thralls Hunnell, to whom he was married on Christms Day in 1900; a daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Florence L.) Curfman, of Holbrook; a son, Jacob B. Hunnell, of Spraggs; two brothers, Newton Hunnell, of Braddock, and Garner Hunnell, of Morgantown, and ten grandchildren. A son, Richard Ansley Hunnell, died in 1924.
