From Ft. Collins Express, 23 Oct 1918, pg. 5:
The body of Jacob Winters will arrive here this morning on the 8:15 train from Riverton, Wyoming. The young man was the son of Godfrey Winters who lives near Lindenmeier Lake. He was a victim of the influenza. The services will be conducted by Reverend Schmidt from the German Congregational church at 3:30 this afternoon.

The remains of Jacob Winters arrived here this morning from Riverton, Wyo., for the funeral and burial services at Grandview.
Winters died from influenza several days ago after a brief illness.
He was the son of Gottfried Winters who resides northeast of the city. He was 28 years old and went to Riverton only a short time ago. The funeral services were held at Grandview this afternoon.

Jakob Winter, son of Gottfried and his wife, was born on 11 January 1893 in Shcherbakovka, Russia. He came to America in 1902 with his parents, where he settled in Windsor, Colorado, undergoing confirmation instruction. A few months ago he took he wife and his child to Riverton, Wyoming, where he died of the influenza on 21 October. The funeral took place here in Fort Collins, Colo. He leaves behind his deeply saddened spouse, his child, his parents, one brother and 3 sisters. His age was 25 years, 9 months and 10 days. His former confirmation text was his funeral text: John 6:40.
