Louis Edward Clary, 83, of the Brandon community, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at the Hospice House of the Upstate.

He was the husband of the late Lucile Byrd Clary and was born in Greenville, a son of the late S.L. and Mattie Clary.

Mr. Clary, an employee of Brandon Mill for 33 years, later retired from Union Carbide. He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Ellen Wood, of Anderson; a son, Loyd Clary, and a daughter-in-law, Vickie Knight-Clary, of Mauldin; a brother, Doyle Clary, of the Brandon community; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was predeceased by a son, Eddie Clary; a sister, Frances Hamilton; two brothers, J.D. Clary and James Clary; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 7:30 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home, with burial at Graceland Cemetery, West.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Hospice House of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
