Nancy was born 30 Mar 1822 in North twp, Harrison Co, and moved to Union Co. about 1838 with her parents.
She married Andrew P Heminger, a cousin of Catherine Heminger, on 21 Nov 1821 in Union Co. They were near neighbors of Zach McIlroy in Liberty twp, Union Co. Andrew served in the 66th OVI as did Zach McIlroy's brother, James Merriman and son, John Marion.

In 1866, The family moved to Blackford Co., IN, about 80 miles west of Union Co., OH and adjacent to Jay Co., IN where her sister, Hester McIlroy Bisel, was living. Based on the birth dates & locations of their grandchildren, they were in Blackford Co. as late as 1875.

Nancy Heminger
Tuesday, Aug. 8, the children of Mrs. Nancy Heminger brought the remains of their dear old mother to be buried in the Hammer cemetery. She had died at the home of her son, who lives at Tuscarawas, Okla. During her last days she became very feeble and blind and lost her speech.
When she came to Lincoln county, Kan., in 1873, she was strong and active and belonged at that time to the United Brethren church. Her husband, who had been a soldier in the Union army, died in 1878. She was born in Medford, Ohio, and was nearly 80 years old at the time of her death. Her maiden name was McElroy. "Strangers and pilgrims on the earth," was the text chosen by Rev. H.C. Bradbury for her funeral discourse at Pleasant Dale church.
Her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Zack Hemminger, three of her sons and many neighbors were at the funeral.
[No Medford, OH has been located, nor was it mentioned in Harrison Co., OH history. There is a Medford, OK in Grant Co., where she was visiting. Sons, Allen, Warren or both lived in Grant Co., OK at the time. Her husband was born in Tuscarawas Co., OH. ]
