HEADLINE: Mrs. M. C. Shell, 94, Succumbs At Her Home Here
Funeral Services Will Be Held at Hoods Mill Firday, 11 a.m. Mrs. Millie Clementine Hearne Shell, 94 years of age, died at her home here Wednesday night following a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted at the Mt. Pleasant Church near Hood's Mill post office, Chatham, Friday morning at 11 o'clock. The pastor, Rev. E. O. Hearne, of Chatham, will officiate. Mrs. Shell, at the time of her death, still retained her membership in the Mt. Pleasant Church.
Acting as pallbearers will be Mrs. Shell's eight grandsons. James Shell, Bastorp; Jake Shell, West Monroe; Burniss Shell, Chatham; W. E. and John Wesley Shell, Jr., of Kelly; Dudley, Denton, and Dennis Shell, of Winnfield.
Mrs. Shell was born in Campbell County, Georgia, May 25th, 1844. She came to Louisiana in 1867 and settled in Jackson Parish where she married W. P. Shell, also a native of Georgia, and they reared a large family. Her husband died in 1915 and in 1925 she came to live in Winnfield. She was the youngest of a family of 13 children.
Surviving are the following sons and daughter: J. T. Shell, Bastrop; Miss Alice V. Shell, Winnfield; C. L. Shell, Dodson; J. J. Shell, West Monroe; S. B. Shell, Bastrop; W. E. Shell, Kelly; Rev. J. W. Shell, Pittsburg, Pa.; and D. F. Shell, Winnfield. Also surviving are 19 great grandsons.
