Dana E. Sevart, 50, of 311 Center Place in Parsons, passed away at 8:40 a.m., Monday, July 14, 2003 at his home. He had been in ill health for the past month.
He was born April 8, 1953 in Parsons, a son of George A. Sevart and C. Loretta (Jacquinot) Sevart. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons, graduating from St. Patrick’s High School in 1971. After graduation, he worked for Ray Products for a year. In 1972, he was employed with the M-K-T Railroad, now the Union Pacific Railroad, where he was currently working as a conductor.
He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the United Transportation Union. As his sons grew up, he was a baseball and basketball coach for their teams. He was an avid fan of Kansas University basketball and Kansas City Chiefs football. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. For many years, he played Santa Claus in the community.
He and Christa L. Knedgen were married May 6, 1972 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. She survives of the home.

Dana was preceded in death by four nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2003 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the main concelebrant, Fr. Michael Schemm, and concelebrants Fr. Robert Wachter, Fr. Nicholas Volker and Fr. Daniel Vacca officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The parish Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with the honor guard provided by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. The family will receive friends at the church following the Rosary.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Patrick’s Catholic School Endowment Fund. These may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 405 Main, Parsons, Kansas 67357.
