Samuel Rankin died at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1942, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Martin. Funeral services were held at Ash Grove church, Dec. 26 at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Ira Blythe. Interment was in Ash Grove cemetery. Mr. Rankin was born in 1855 to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rankin. He was married Nov. 9, 1876 and his wife passed away, Nov. 18, 1921. Surviving are six children, namely, Mrs. J. H. Bridges of Peru, IN; Wood Rankin of Shelbyville; Mrs. Ward Martin of Strasburg; Ed Rankin of Stewardson; Mrs. Joseph Saprienza of St. Louis; Raymond Rankin of Decatur. G. B. Rankin of Decatur is a half brother. Mr. Rankin was a member of Lower Ash Grove Church. Windsor Gazette - 31 Dec 1942
