ST. LOUIS — Arthur K. Friskel, M.D., 89, of Shrewsbury, Mo., died Thursday, May 20, 2010.
Dr. Friskel was born Aug. 9, 1920 in Frontenac, KS.
He served in the Army during WWII after graduating from Sacred Heart grade school, Hays Military Academy, Hays, KS, St. Louis University and St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1945. He served as a resident in Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital Group and was on staff at St. Mary's and St. John's Hospitals until his retirement in 2007. During his years of practice, he maintained a private office and continued to serve his patients in house calls and as they entered hospitals and nursing homes. He treated up to 5 generations in many families.
He was Baptized into the Hope of Christ's Resurrection.
Loving husband of 65 years of Peg Friskel (nee Harrigan); loving father of Terence (Madonna), Patrick, John (Megan), Phillip, Gregory (Lori) and Robert (Julie); loving grandfather of Lisa (Randy) Muehe, Ryan, Michelle (Neal) Gleditsch, John W., Kevin, Steven, Caitlyn, Lauren (Richard) Reed, David, Carolyn, Meredith, Nishant (Shipra) Shah and Anuj Shah; great-grandfather of Jack Henry Reed; dear brother of Mary Winifred "Tip" (Paul) Hutsey, Paul (Betty), Robert (Maria), David (Alice) and the late Brother Joseph O.S.B. (Phillip) and the late Joseph (surviving Doris) Friskel; dear uncle, great-uncle, friend and physician to many.

Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
