Together they had daughter Geraldine Frances and son Robert Edward. The couple lived in San Francisco for a short time. They divorced in 1934.
At the time of his death in 1954, Howard was married to Clarella Claressa Cooper, sister of Howard's sister Irene's husband, Henry Blair Cooper. They probably married between 1942 and 1945 as he was listed on his own in the 1942 San Diego directory, but with a wife, Clara, in the 1945 San Diego directory.
