Mr. Thurber was well known here, having lived in Nelson for many years before moving to Clay Center.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Clay Center funeral home, with burial being made in the cemetery here.

Roy Thurber Dies in Clay Center Friday Evening
Roy A. Thurber, 59, who came to Clay Center eight years ago from Superior, died suddenly on Friday evening. He was a native of Mercer, Missouri.
Survivors are his wife, Viola; two daughter, Mrs. Vernon Hand and Mrs. Clifford Duncan of Clay Center; three brothers, Thomas of Kansas City, Missouri; Glenn of Van Nuys, California, and Orville of Pasadena, California; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Sperry of Superior and Mrs. Fern Ruglia of Oak; and a half sister, Mrs. Cora Zigher of Hastings.
