She was born in Taylorsville, Utah on March 18, 1901 to Arthur and Rebecca Rhoda Pehrson Bennion. Attended schools in Taylorsville and graduated from Granite High School. She was the eldest of seven children, four of whom have preceded her in death.
Married James Albert Nelson. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died April 18, 1984.
Zora was a dedicated member of the LDS Church and was a member of the LDS Tabernacle choir for several years. She was a talented oil painter and a collector of antiques. She studied painting with Roscoe Grover, a life-long friend and former spokesman for the choir.
Survived by two sons, Floren Bennion Nelson and Vaughn Albert Nelson; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Harris W. Bennion; and a sister, Geraldine P. Phillips.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 8, 1990 at 12:00 p.m. in the Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple Street, where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
