Uncle Leon suffered from muscular distrophy from birth. He lived his life with his family, Myrtle and Arthur Caldwell until Myrtle's death. For several years after the death of his mother he resided with his brother and father. He the later resided in the Porter nursing home for the rest of his life. He was very loved in the nursing home. Many of the nurses still talk of him today. They always treated him with McDonalds or Burger King. He was very happy there. Several weeks before the death of his father, the two of them, father and son were reunited and resided together once again. Uncle Leon, I believed, led a very happy life. He was always cheerful and even though he could not speak you could always understand him. I went to visit him one day when I first got my drivers licence at the age of 16. It had been a very long time since I had seen him, probably at least 10 years. I came down the hall and before I knew it there he was scooting his chair down the hall towards me just a hollering, hollaring like in his manner, he knew who I was and I was so happy to be there. He would ride me around on his chair when I was a baby. He was a very loved and loving person, I will miss him.
