"John W. Townsen
John W. Townsen died Tuesday afternoon at about 1:40. He had been sick only for about one week with smallpox.
Mr. Townsen was among the original settlers in this section, having been here for perhaps more than 40 years, he being one of nine brothers who settled in this territory many years since. The other brothers are all still living and most of them were here in a body something like a month ago when C.F. Townsen was so seriously ill.
Mr. Townsen had accumulated a nice property, owning some of the best located city property in this place. He leaves a widow, three sons and two daughters, besides many warm friends, to mourn his loss."
