LETHA E. KELLER
Letha E. Keller, 88, Ottawa, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Christian Care Cottage II, Ottawa. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, with
the Rev. Henry Roberts Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.
She was born Sept. 13, 1909, to William and Sarah Frances (Harp) Ringle at Cherryvale,
where she graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1927.
On Nov. 26, 1933, she married John W. Keller at Cherryvale.
They moved to Ottawa, that year, and they owned and operated Keller's Dairy, east of
Ottawa until 1942: From 1953 to 1962, she was a store clerk, working for Townsend's
Department Store, Ottawa, for three years, and for Terril's Department Store, Ottawa, for six. They then moved to Salt Lake City, returning to Ottawa in 1975.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ottawa, where she was active in the Church Christian Service Circle. She was a former member of the Order of True Kindred, Retta Conclave No. 8. For more than five years, she was a volunteer with the Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where
she worked in the hospital gift shop. In 1983, she became a member of the Happy Homemakers
Extension Homemakers Unit (EHU). She also was a member of the East Central China Painters in 1983 and a member of the Franklin County Historical Society in 1988. She also was involved in Brownie and Girl Scouts of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by: her husband in June 1982; two brothers, Ray Ringle and
Jack Fitch; and four sisters, Florence Couk, Theresa Matthews, Sue Nicholson and Stella Knolls.
Survivors include: two daughters, Elizabeth Harder, Detroit, Mich., and Martha Keller, Ottawa; three sisters, Violet Baker, Cherryvale; Evelyn Graveli, Cloverdale Calif., and Goldie Sesher, Chanute;
three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call today until the service hour at the mortuary, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today
