Born on Dan Waggoner's ranch near Decatur. She was one of the richest heiresses in the Southwest. She married A. B. Wharton of Philadelphia in 1902 in Ft. Worth and they planned to live in Philadelphia.

Her father, Tom Waggoner didn't want his daughter leaving Texas, so he planned to build Electra her wedding present. It was a beautiful home in Fort Worth, which was to become known as "Thistle Hill."

She lived in Dallas beginning in 1919 for 3 years and built a reportedly fabulous home at 4700 Preston Road. Her father amassed land in north Texas of over 500,000 acres crossing 6 counties.

Electra was the daughter of William Thomas ("Tom") Waggoner and his wife Ella (Halsell) Waggoner. Tom's father was Daniel ("Dan") Waggoner.
She married Albert Buckman Wharton on June 10, 1902. (They had met in 1901 while she was on a world tour.) (Albert's middle name was Buckman, his mother's maiden name.) Her second husband was Weldon Bailey, they divorced in January, 1925. She married James A. Gilmore and died shortly afterwards in NY. Her body was sent to Fort Worth where it was laid to rest in the Waggoner Crypt.
