Later, he bought New Mexico's historic Bell Ranch. He served on the Texas and New Mexico racing commissions as chairman. Waggoner was married eight times. Anne Burnett, the heiress of the 6666 Ranch, was one of his spouses. When the multi-millionaire died, his estate covered 750,000 acres in six counties in Northwest Texas.
