Obituary: Unterrified Democrat, Linn, Mo, July 7, 1938, Page 1
Three brothers who had gone swimming were drowned in a creek near Chamois 8 o'clock Saturday evening. The brothers were Arthur Reithmeyer, 29, Wilbur 17, and Louis 15.
Sons of Mr. And Mrs. J. Henry Reithmeyer of Chamois, the boys had gone swimming to cool off after working the field during the day. They had eaten a meal just before they went into the water and were seized with cramps.
According to witnesses, Arthur who was regarded a strong swimmer was the first to indicate distress,Ed, another brother, went to him when he heard the other brothers call. He was unable to reach them and they disappeared.
The creek at the scene is generally shallow, but there are one or two "step offs" against which waders had been warned. The bodies were found in deep water.
The three are survived by their parents, two brothers and two sisters. Arthur had been the principal support of the family, the father having been ill and unable to work for sometime.
Funeral services were held from the Oklahoma Church Monday afternoon. Burial was in the cemetery there.
