James Albert Etherington, 69, died this morning at the family residence, 2408 Fillmore Ave., after a three - week illness. Mr. Etherington was an agriculturist in West
Weber for many years. He moved to Ogden and worked for the Ogden Union Railway and Depot Co. in the commissary department, retiring three years ago. A member of the LDS Church, he served as a missionary in the Central States Mission from 1921 to 1923. He was a member of the High Priest Quorum of the Mount Ogden Stake. While living in the West Weber he served as president of the YMMIA for a number of years, as a home missionary and ward teacher. He had been serving as an advisor in the Adult Aaronic Priesthood deparment of the LDS Thirty - third Ward.
On Feb. 26, 1908 he married Rachel Hoskins in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. He was born Oct. 31 1883, in West Weber a son of Thomas and Sarah Wheeler Etherington. Surviving are his widow, the following sons and daughters; Lee Ladell Etherington, Ogden; Mrs. Delbert(Flora) Garner, Mrs. George (Rhea) Folkman, Nyssa, Ore.; Mrs. Harold (Ina) Hunt, Plain City; 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Esther McFarland, Ogden.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 24th
street and Adams Avenue, Bishop John Shaw of the LDS Thirty - third Ward officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday until time of services.
interment will be in Ogden City Cemetery.
