MRS. NEWMAN DEAD
Mrs. Laura Newman, wife of J. M. Newman, died last Monday at her home near Darbun. Mrs. Newman had suffered from heart trouble for some time and while attending church at Holly Springs, Sunday, Aug. 9th there was some disturbance near the church in which her son and son and law were arrested by Constable Bourn. About the time she learned of the arrest she heard a pistol shot in that direction which is said to have excited her to the extent that she fainted. She never fully recovered from the shock. She was for a number of years, a devout Christian woman and up until her death was a constant member of the Holly Springs Church and her death will be a great loss to the community. A husband and six children survived her.
