Margaret was the daughter of Francis Hayes Beard and his first wife, Lucy Ann Alexander. Margaret was the only child of her mother, who died shortly after her birth. Margaret was married in Marion County, Mississippi on 25 November 1872 to William Alexander Graham (called Alex, Alec, or Elec), and together they had 12 children. While she was buried in the China Grove Church Cemetery, her husband was buried in the Knoxo Cemetery, both in Walthall County, Mississippi.
