Delightful Reception at the Yager Home
Mrs. Margaret Yager and her daughter, Mrs. N. J. Levinson of Fresno, received a company of their San Bernardino, Colton and neighborhood friends yesterday afternoon at an informal "at home" at Mrs. Yager's beautiful bungalow on the rialto bench, overlooking the valley.
A beautiful Easter setting was given the drawing room with masses of bridal wreath and the lovely flowering almond, while in the dining room the glorious coloring of the California poppy predominated. They adorned the refreshment table, laid with Mexican drawn work centerpiece, and brightened the buffet. Mrs. E. J. Mogeau poured coffee, and a tempting menu was served.
Afterwards the attention of the guests was drawn to the Easter table in the drawing room, with a festive combination of rabbits and chicks on an Easter frolic. A large nest in the center contained a varied collection of Easter eggs. Each guest registered a guess as to the number, a beautiful potted Easter fern being awarded to Miss Katherine Oliver, who made the nearest guess.
Mrs. Rex Goodcell and Miss Bessie Knappe cleverly read the palms of the guests during the afternoon, and prophesied future events, to the amusement and enlightenment of the guests.
Mrs. George A. Ferguson, Miss Gertrude Yager and Miss Marguerite Mogeau assisted in receiving and entertaining the company.

IN THE SHADOWS
MRS. MARGARET YAGER
Just as the sunset shadows over the Cucamonga peaks were lengthening last night as she had watched them for 60 years, death stole in with the twilight and called for the spirit of Mrs. Margaret Yager, one of the mothers of the valley. The end came at her home on the Rialto bench, just at the top of the Fourth Street hill, where 50 years ago, Mrs. Yager and members of her family had taken up a homestead, reclaimed the land and for the half century it had been her home.
Her long illness had been marked by unusual devotion on the part of her daughters, three of whom have divided the time for years and sometimes two or three of them would be here at a time, coming from distant homes that they might render filial duty and care for their mother in her last days. For she would be contented no place else.
Mrs. Yager was a native of Glasgow, Scotland, born there 84 years ago. As a young woman, she came to California and for 60 years had been a resident of the valley, 50 years of that time on the land where she died. She was a woman to whom home meant everything; it was her sphere and beyond it there was little that interested her, and even in declining years the attractions of the homes of members of her family could not take the place of that which had been her own. So the daughters came to keep vigil with her to the end. At her bedside as the spirit took its flight last night were Mrs. N.J. Levinson and Mrs. H.H. Herdman of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. George Ferguson of Fresno. She is also survived by another daughter, Miss Winifred Yager, of Portland, and one son, W.G. Mogeau of Alaska.
Also she is survived by two brothers, former Mayor John A. Henderson of this city, and D.G. Henderson of Etiwanda, and by one sister, Mrs. W.B. Roberds, of San Jacinto.
The obsequies will be from the chapel of the Mark B. Shaw Company Thursday at 4 o'clock p.m. with interment in Mountain View cemetery.

MRS. MARGARET YAGER
Very simple services marked the funeral of Mrs. Margaret Yager, one of the oldest pioneers of the valley, when the last rites were held yesterday from the Mark B. Shaw undertaking parlors. The Rev. Mr. Shaw delivered the sermon, which dealt with the life of the pioneer woman. He eulogized her past and her love of family and home life, telling how she had come to California 60 years ago, and how she lived in the family home on the Rialto bench for the last 50 years.
Mrs. Yager was born in Scotland 84 years ago and came to California while still a young woman.
Four daughters and a son survive the pioneer mother. They are: Mrs. N. J. Levinson, Mrs. H. H. Herdman of Portland, Ore., Mrs. George Ferguson of Fresno, Miss Winifred Yager of Portland and W. G. Mogeau of Alaska.
Two brothers and a sister survive her:
former Mayor John A. Henderson and D. G. Henderson of Etiwanda;
Mrs. W. B. Roberds of San Jacinto.
The pall bearers were all members of her family, being Front Holcomb, Roy Ferguson, Sam Ferguson, James Cole, Robert Nish and Will Hancock.
Mrs. Josephine Mogeau Reed sang two of her favorite hymns, "Abide With Me" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Mrs. Reed is a grand-daughter of the deceased. Mrs. Leon Soden accompanied on the piano.
Interment was held in Mountain View Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Mark B. Shaw Company.

Two brothers and a sister survive her:
former Mayor John A. Henderson and D. G. Henderson of Etiwanda;
Mrs. W.
