Benjamin Weston was one of Col. John Chester's Men from Wethersfield, CT, who marched to answer the Lexington Alarm, participated in the Battle of Bunker Hill. He served under the command of Samuel Webb in the Battle of Rhode Island, Setauket (Long Island Raids) and was present in 1777 for the battles of Forts Clinton & Montgomery. They built the Webb fortifications at West Point. He achieved the rank of Ensign in the Army before his discharge on July 13, 1779. He was the great-great-great grandson of Mayflower Passenger George Soule. His final resting place in this cemetery is confirmed by the book "Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots" by Hatcher (based on DAR surveys) and the 1998 Harmony cemetery survey by the late Morris Historian Joyce Foote and Janet Washbon. His headstone had broken and is being uncovered as of May 2023, but a new headstone is being procured from the V.A. for placement in the summer of 2023. If anyone wishes to be present for its placing please contact the memorial manager johnavedian @ gmail dot com.
