Old and Esteemed Resident of Higginsville
Passes Away.
Higginsville, April 26.—The death
of Leo Schuler, one of the oldest
farmers in this section and one of
the beat known and most highly respected
residents of the town, occurred
this morning from a complication
of diseases. He was born in Germany
in 1838 and came to this country
when young, locating near this
place. During the civil war he enlisted
in D Company, Second New York Heavy Artillery, serving until honorably discharged at the close of hostilities, when he returned and took up farming in which he made a success.
He married about 43 years ago.
His wife survives with seven sons,
Edward F., Albert A., Carl A., Leo G.,
and Louis R. Schuler, all of Rome,
William and Francis Schuler, who reside
at home, and three daughters,
Mrs. George (Mary) Miller and Mrs. Michael (Mathilda) McGarty of Rome and Mrs. Henry (Helena) Schmutz of Oneida. He was a member of Warren Post, G. A. R., of Verona
and St. Josephs' Church, Durhamvil!e.
