MINDEN, LA - Marcia Wren Gater passed from this world on May 15, 2010. Born and raised in Minden, she attended Northwestern University and pursued a professional career in San Francisco, California for many years before returning home to care for her mother, Ola Spencer Wren. She was a longtime secretary of the United Methodist Women Society and an active member of First United Methodist Church of Minden.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Marcus D. Wren, Sr., her sister Elizabeth Wren Yowell, and her brother Dr. William Spencer Wren. She is survived by her brother Marcus D. Wren, Jr. and wife Gay Stewart Wren, and many loving nieces and nephews; Susanya Schuett, Eddy Yowell, Spencer Wren, Mike Wren, Barbara Joslin, Marcus Wren III, Stewart Wren, Ellen Wren Uzelac, Lovic Wren, and Rusty Wren. She leaves behind many great nieces and great nephews who will all dearly miss her as well.

The family would like to express appreciation for the wonderful care provided by the staff of Willis Knighton Pierremont ICU. They went above and beyond their call of duty with their help and understanding.

With her at her death were Teresa Wren and Liz Wren helping to ease her journey.

Graveside services will be held Monday May 17, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. at Pine Grove Methodist Church Cemetery in Minden. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Minden on Friday June 4, 2010. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden Sunday May 16, 2010 between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
