Dorothy Marie StanCombe, 80, formerly of Mitchell, passed away at 1:07 a.m. Wednesday at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford.

Born Jan. 7, 1930, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Millard and Pearl Lena (Voorhies) Baker. She married Manfred StanCombe May 14, 1953, and he preceded her in death July 22, 1997.

She was a homemaker and caregiver.

Surviving are daughters, Vickie (Jerry) New of Mitchell, Patty Frost, of Oneonta, Ala., L. Debra (Argus) Young of Bedford, and Marcella (Jerry) Patton of Orleans; sons, Dale StanCombe, and M. Stephen (Rebecca Ann) StanCombe, all of Mitchell; 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Reva Mundy of Bedford; and brothers, Kenneth Baker, Joe Baker, Hubert "Bud" Baker and James Baker, all of Bedford.

Her parents; husband; son, Allen StanCombe; great-grandson, Gavin Kline; son-in-law, John Frost; four sisters; and three brothers, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Brother Perry East officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
