Ann LeMay Bowden, age 84, of Muskegon and formerly of Lansing, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 13, 2010. She was born to Arthur and Irene (Sherman) Meriam on January 24, 1926, in Detroit. Ann married James Bowden Jr. on January 29, 1949, in Lansing, where they resided. She assisted her husband at Lansing Christian School, working as a bus driver, secretary, school teacher and administrative assistant. They retired to Muskegon in 1990. James passed away on February 26, 2008. Ann was a member of Mona Shores Baptist Church in Muskegon, and was actively involved at Maranatha Bible and Missionary Conference. Before retiring to Muskegon, Ann served for 40 years with her husband as he pastored in the Lansing area at Lakeside Chapel, South Okemos Church and Valley Farms Baptist Church. Ann is survived by her children: Kent Bowden of Washington, D.C., Cathy (Dennis) Bytwerk of Mason, Kay (Doug) Bytwerk of Spring Lake, James (Martha) Bowden of Yokosuka, Japan, and Calvin (Amy) Bowden of Mason; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, L.W. "Bud" Meriam. The family will greet friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, Grand Haven. The family will also receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Trinity Church on Dunckel Road in Lansing, with the funeral following at 1 p.m. with James Bowden III and Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Interment at Leek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Lansing Christian School or Mona Shores Baptist Church.
