Sarah Catherine "Kate" Fite was born on January 8, 1867 in Gordon County, Georgia, the daughter of Issac Marion & Mary Ann (McClure) Fite. Kate was married to Wylie A. Jarvis (Jervis). Kate was the mother of John "Johnnie" Jarvis, born 1886; Frances Mary "Frankie" Jarvis, born c. April 1888; and Ruby Jarvis, born c. 1889/90. Kate died on December 4, 1890, possibly from the complications of child birth, and her mortal remains were laid in the Fite Family Cemetery.

W. A. Jarvis/Jervis and Miss Kate Fite were married on January 28, 1886 by J. B. Hillhouse, M. G., in Gordon County, Georgia. This was recorded on March 25, 1887.

Wiley A. Jarvis/Jervis was born on May __, 1862 in North Carolina, the son of John A. Jervis/Jarvis and Mary I. (White) Jervis/Jarvis. John A. Jervis was born on August __, 1828 in North Carolina and is believed to be the Capt. John A. Jarvis, who served as Captain of Co. D of the 29th Regiment of North Carolina Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. However, when the regiment was reorganized in 1862, he was not reelected as Captain of Co. D, so it is not known if her served further with the 29th. The men of Co. D of the 29th came from Madison County, North Carolina. The 29th North Carolina, served in Tennessee and North Carolina and participated in the battles that occurred around Chattanooga, particpated in the Atlanta Campaign and then after the fall of Atlanta, participated in the 2nd Campaign for Tennessee and the fighting around Nashville.
John must have liked what he saw in North Georgia as after the war, John A. Jarvis became a Lawyer and practiced law in Fannin County and in Gordon County, Georgia, where the battle of Resaca had been fought. John A. Jervis and Mary were the parents of;
1. Wiley A. Jarvis/Jervis, born May __, 1862 in North Carolina. Wiley is found with the family in the 1880 census in Calhoun Township, Gordon County, Georgia seen below. Wiley and Kate were united in Holy Matrimony on January 28, 1886 in Gordon County, Georgia and they were the parents of three children, John, who was born and died in late1886; Mary Frances, who was born and died in the spring of 1888; and Ruby, who was born and died c. 1889/90.
Kate died in December of 1890. In the 1890's the wild west called Wiley and by 1900, he is found in South Dakota. Little is known of Wiley after this time, but, it does not appear that he ever married again. At the time of the 1900 census, Wiley A. Jarvis is found in Gettyburg Township, Potter County, South Dakota, where he is boarding, with 21 other men, in the McMaster Hotel, run by August and Elizabeth McMaster, on Commercial Avenue in Gettysburg, South Dakota. Wiley is listed as having been born in May of 1862 in North Carolina and is listed as being a Hardware Salesmen.
Nothing more is known of Wiley A. Jarvis at this time.

2. Charles Thornwell "Charlie" Jervis, born February __, 1866 in Georgia. Charles was married to Edith G. __________ in the 1890's. At the time of the 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 and 1940 census records, Charles and his family are found in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia. Charles and Edith were the parents of;
A. John Rawlins Jervis, born February __, 1899 in Georgia. John died in 1973.

B. Mary Ernestine Jervis, born __________ __, 1902 in Georgia. Mary died in 1993.

C. Charles Thornwell Jervis Jr., born ____________ __, 1912. Charles died in 1991.

3. John Lamar Jarvis, born c. 1866/67 in Georgia.

4. Mary Jervis, born c. 1874/76 in Georgia.
