Addie Violet Eppard Dean, 76, of Rt. 1, Elkton died Thursday morningat Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Monday night. She had been in failing health two years.
Mrs. Dean was born Nov. 12, 1900 in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Marion K. and Susanna Florence Dean Eppard.
She was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church of Elkton.
She was twice married. She was the widow of Henry Dean, Her second husband, Matthew McKinley Dean, died April 15, 1939.
Surviving are six children, Christine Hensley and Earl Dean, both of McGaheysville, Irene Shifflett and Pearl Royer, both of Grottoes, and Elwood Dean and Margaret Knight, both of Elkton; 18 grandchildren, 18 great
grandchildren; a brother, Ben Eppard of Elkton; a half-sister, Vivian Lam of Elkton, and three half-brothers, Shirley and Aubrey Eppard, both of Elkton, and Eldridge Eppard of Charlottesville.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home by the Rev. Morgan Kinney. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.The casket will be closed.
