Claudie Hammers officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips, widow of Ben Phillips, died Wednesday afternoon at Community Hospital of Bolivar after a long illness. She was a Haywood County native and a member of Mid-Way Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donald Williams and Mrs. Tommy Goodman, both of Whiteville; a brother, Ray Freels of Whiteville; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Otis Benard, Steve Allen, Eddie Phillips, Edwin Phillips, Jr., Jimmy Goodman and Carl Dowdy.
