Death of Mrs. Mahon.

Jane Gilbert, wife of John Mahon, died in this city Sunday. She was born in County Antrim, Ireland, September 14th, 1830, and came to this county with her parents in young womanhood. She was married here in 1854, and made her home in Cedar township until the removal of the family to Fairfield in 1895. Mrs. Mahon was the mother of nine children, eight of whom survive her. She was a woman of many excellences and in that portion of the county where so much of her life was spent had many warm friends. Much sympathy will be extended the husband and family in their bereavement. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Alex Corkey.

Jean Gilbert was born in County Antrim, Ireland, on Sept 14, 1830, and departed this life on Sept. 3, 1905, aged 75 years, lacking eleven days. She came to this country when a young lady, and was married in Fairfield in 1854 to John Mahon, and has made her home in Jefferson County ever since. In 1895 the family moved from their farm southeast of town to Fairfield. Nine children were born to them, of whom eight survive. The eldest, Jeannie, preceded her mother to the other world some years ago. Mrs. Mahon was a good woman. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. A large gathering of old friends at the funeral testified to the respect in which she was held. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Alexander Corkey yesterday afternoon.
