James Callen of Boggs Township died in Armstrong County Hospital, Friday morning, May 2, 1947, at 1:05 a.m. following an illness of several weeks. He entered the hospital about two weeks ago. Mr. Callen was a native of Butler County. Prior to moving to Boggs Township he had resided in Templeton for several years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Fannie (Rupp) Callen and three sons, John Callen, Apollo, R.D.#2, Thomas Callen, North Apollo, and Lee Callen, New Kensington, R.D.#1; a brother Charles Callen, Vandergrift, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Callen was aged 78 years, six months, and one day, having been born November 1, 1858, at Callensburg. Services were held Monday afternoon in the Templeton Methodist Church. Services were in charge of Rev. Walter Kennedy and Rev. H. F. Pollock. Burial was made in the Belknap Cemetery.
