The 1870 census for Warsaw Twp, Jefferson Co, says her name is Martha E. She was orphaned at a few weeks before her 5th birthday. The family that raised her appears to have changed her name to Bertha Elizabeth. To add to that, my father told us she was Martha Elizabeth "But they called her "Bertha".
The 1880 census shows Bertha living with her cousin - Harriet (Smith) married to John N Allison.
Bertha's death certificate says she is buried in "Highland Cemetery" in North Washington Twp, PA. Highland cemetery has been renamed Mount Varnum. My father said she was buried in potters field in Mt. Varnum cemetery
