Mima Hammonds Dies At Age 79; Sesser Funeral
Mrs. Mima Minerva Hammonds, 79, of 203 East Florence street in Sesser. died at 11:05 a.m. Sunday in Franklin County Hospital at Benton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Sesser, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Daryl Busby officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Brayfield Funeral Home in Sesser where friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Hammonds was born Mar. 25, 1885, in Franklin county, the daughter of William and Melissa (Kirkpatrick) Cockrum. She was married to Alonzo Hammonds, who preceded her in death in 1960. She is survived by three stepsons, Wayne and Dwight Hammonds, both of Ina, and Lester Hammonds of East Gary, Ind.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Georgenna Wells or St. Charles, Ill.; and three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Baker and Mrs. Trilby Bradley, both of Sesser, and Mrs. Gertrude Crouch of East Gary, Ind.
