Edgar Troy was born April 9, 1850, in Randolph Co, NC. His father was Alfred Lane Troy (b. Mar 1, 1823 in NC, d. July 29, 1904 Randolph Co., NC) and his mother was Nancy Marilla Cox (dates unknown). His first name may actually be Alfred, but he went by Edgar.

Edgar had 11 brothers and sisters:
Henry Clay, b. 1848 d. 1849
Cyrus Thaddeus b.1851 d. 1914
Alpheus Julian b. 1853
Mary Elizabeth b. 1854
John Wesley b. 1856
James Theodore b. 1858 d. 1859
Thomas Ellis b. 1859
Nancy Lee b. 1861
Margaret Emma b. 1863
Ella Narcissa b. 1864
Carrie Vida b. 1867 d. 1888

Edgar Troy owned a general store, but I'm not sure of the location. Probably in Heber Springs, AR.

The following are the movements of this family as well as I have been able to discern from records:

Between 1872-75, Moved from TN to Independence Co., AR then to Cleburne Co, AR

1876-79, Moved from AR to MO. The family is in Dent County, MO in the 1880 census. This was a large coal and iron mining county and it would not have been unusual to move here, work in the mines to earn enough to purchase a homestead and move on.

1882-85, Moved back to Cleburne County, AR
