Mrs. Elizabeth Baker

Sunday morning shortly after 4 o'clock Mrs. Elizabeth Baker, widow of Jacob Baker, died at the home of her son, Mahlon B. Baker, at Brook's Mills station, of a complication of diseases, after an illness of three months' duration aged about 65 years. She was born in Morrison's Cove and resided here until 1890, when she with her husband and family moved to Brook's Mills. After his death eight years ago, she became a resident of Hollidaysburg, returning to Brook's Mills two years ago. She was a life long and consistent member of the Church of the Brethren, being a member of the congregation at Leamersville. She is survived by one son, Mahlon B. Baker, at whose home she died, thirteen grandchildren, nine of whom are children of her deceased daughter, Alice Greenleaf, and Carrie Langham, and by one great grandchild. Mrs. Baker was of a kind and generous disposition and enjoyed a large acquaintance who will learn of her death with regret. The funeral was held on Wednesday; interment at Clover Creek cem.

A number of people attended the funeral of the late Elizabeth Baker at Fredericksburg on Wednesday. "Grandma" was an earnest member of the Church of the Brethren at this place and was also an active member of the Sister's Mission Band. She was loved by all who shared her acquaintance. Her husband, Jacob Baker, preceded her to the spirit world as did also four children. One son Mahlon of Brook's Mills, survives. Also thirteen grandchildren and one great grand child. Funeral services were conducted in the Fredericksburg Church of the Brethren by her pastor Eld. D. D. Sell. Interment was made in the Brumbaugh cemetery.
