Born on May 4, 1930, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late George D. and Mary Diffendorfer Stoner. Following his mother's death, he was raised by his loving aunt and uncle, Mary and Fred Stoner.
Mr. Stoner attended Chambersburg High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was employed by the P.H. Glatfelter Company for 32 years before his retirement. Mr. Stoner was a very active man, whether through enjoying the outdoors hunting, fishing, and taking in the scenic Colorado mountains, or by bowling in two leagues at the Hanover Bowling Center.
He was a member of Lohr's Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as usher and greeter, and was a member of the Hanover Republican Club. A true family man, he loved his children and grandchildren with all of his heart.
In addition to his wife of nearly 59 years, he is survived by his daughter, Wanda Wareham and husband, Robert of Painesville, Ohio; two sons, Bruce Stoner and wife, Debra of Loveland, CO, and Brad Stoner of Hanover; and four grandchildren, Mitchell Wareham, Cameran Wareham, Kate Meadows (Nathan), and Andrew Stoner.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Fred, Robert, and John Stoner; and a sister, Ruth Myers.
Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
