A native of Rumson, N.J., Mr. Stern was an All-Star Baseball Player for Rumson High School in the 1950s. He attended Florida Southern University and was employed with S & K Menswear for 12 years.
Allen was a devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Rita Stern; three sons, Robert Stern of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Jay Stern of Collegeville, Pa., Steven Stern and his wife, Diana, of Raleigh, N.C.; a cousin, Thomas Mott of Ocean, N.J.; his nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved, Arnold and his wife, Lori, Bambi and her husband, Andy, Ricky, Brett and Wendy.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg. The family will be at 3159-101 Silver Sands Circle, Virginia Beach. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, The Lost Chords, 2730 Ellsmere Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23518.
