Born on Oct. 26, 1935, son of Frank and Theresa Frana Selva, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. He attended Broward Junior College in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He served in the Army for three years and was stationed in Germany. He was discharged with the rank of sergeant.
Mr. Selva was employed by Woolworth Corp.* for 35 years, retiring as district manager in 1996. (*Employment Clarification: G.R. Kinney Company were manufacturers and retailers of shoes from 1894 until September 16, 1998. On August 31, 1963 the G.R. Kinney Company was sold to F.W. Woolworth. The firm was renamed the Kinney Shoe Corporation and continued as a fully owned subsidiary of Woolworth. It retained its own eleven member board of directors and an existing panel of corporate officers. On September 16, 1998 the Venator Group (Woolworth renamed) announced that Kinney's 467 shoe stores would close.)
He leaves a son, Darrin Selva of Lutz, Fla.; a daughter, Tina Kowele of Deltona, Fla.; three sisters, Josephine O'Bryan and Janet Barrett, both of West Stockbridge, and Elizabeth O'Bryan of Longwood, Fla.; three grandchildren, and his former wife, Susan Selva. He was predeceased by a daughter, Terri Marie Selva.
