CATAWBA -- Catherine Helton Rowe, 90, of Catawba went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley.

Mrs. Rowe was born on January 25, 1918 in Catawba County to the late Raymond A. and Minnie Rosenbaum Helton. Mrs. Rowe previously worked in the furniture and hosiery industry and in her latter years she enjoyed cooking, her flowers, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virl Frank Rowe; son Virgil Rowe; grandson Stephen Willix; brothers Charles Helton and Clyde Helton; and sisters Blanche Helton, Sadie Davis and Dot Poovey.

Survivors include her sons Larry (Loye) Rowe, Wayne Rowe and Steve (Debbie) Rowe of Hickory, and Darrell (Delette) Rowe of Catawba; daughters Linda (Rick) Stevens and Janice Rowe of Hickory. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, August 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. Rev. Darren Rowe will officiate and burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Hickory.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Drum Funeral Home.
