By 1900, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Burroughs were living in Audrain County, MO, where Mr. Burroughs' occupation was farming. The couple had no children. MO Death Certificates of both Mr. and Mrs. Burroughs list burial in Mexico, MO.
Mrs. Burrough’s parents, Thomas and Nancy Jane (Montgomery) Barnsback, were prominent members of Madison County, IL, settling in the small village of Mont Station, right outside of Edwardsville/Glen Carbon, Madison County, IL. Thomas was the son of George Berensbach, the spelling changed to Barnsback circa 1840. As described in county history, Thomas was “more than ordinarily successful” and well-known for his superior breeding programs. After the death of her parents, Fannie inherited the Mont Station land and home. She leased all until 1920 when it was sold to the Rinkel family. Approximately 350 acres sold for over $74,000, the price per acre ranging from $200 to $250. Built circa 1850, the home of Thomas and Nancy Jane Barnsback, childhood home of Fannie, is one of three surviving brick homes near Mont Station. (MCHS, Vol, 5 No.1, July 2017, “Montgomery Station – Established 1893”)
