Mrs. Anna Spragg Shannon, 81, died in the Greene County Memorial Hospital, at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 1959, after a long illness.
Mrs. Shannon was born August 16, 1877, in Greene County, a daughter of Inghram and Sarah Lough Spragg.
She was the widow of Attorney Thomas Shannon, who died in 1938. She spent most of her life in the Waynesburg community, with the exception of a few years spent in Canton, O. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Waynesburg.
Mrs. Shannon was a former teacher of music at Waynesburg College and was acrive in civic and church activities when she was younger.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Scott (Wilmot) Freeman of Tallahassee, Fla.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson of Flushing, Ohio; and Mrs. Bertha (sic) Pipes of St. Petersburg, Fla., and one brother, Edward Spragg of Glen Dale, W. Va.
One son, Edwin Shannon, and two sisters are deceased.
SHANNON - Friends of Mrs. Anna Spragg Shannon, who died Saturday, January 10, 1959, will be received after 7 p. m. Monday, January 12, in the Church-Mariner Funeral Home, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, January 14, in charge of Rev. Benjamin F. Shue. Interment in Greene County Memorial Park.
