William was a son of Amos Adams & Sarah Kemp.

He was married on 13 Feb 1796 at Norridgewock, Somerset County, Maine by Oliver Wood, Esq. to Eleanor Crosby.

He was living in Norridgewock, Maine in the 1800 and 1810 census.

He was living in New Vineyard, Maine on 7 Aug 1820 during the 1820 census. Family of 8, 4 boys and 2 girls.

Some say he died on 16 April 1887 at Clinton, Kennebec County, Maine... but that is unlikely. He would have been over 114 years old, but he does not appear in the 1850, 1860, 1870 or 1880 census. He would have been 107 years old in the 1880 census... certainly that would have been a newsworthy event. 97 years old in the 1870 census probably would have been noticed as well.

The burial site for his son, William Adams, Jr., born 1797, has not yet been found. It is more likely that if there was a William Adams who died in Clinton on 16 Apr 1887, it would have been the son... aged about 90 years.

Any further insight about this would be appreciated.
