ANDREW "Andy" J. McGANN, Jr. Age 50, of rural Elburn, formerly of Chicago, IL, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at his home.

He was born July 3, 1955 in Chicago, IL where he graduated from Marist High School in 1973. Andy went on earn a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Dayton and his Mortuary Science from Worsham College, Chicago.

Following graduation, he joined Andrew McGann Sr. in the family funeral home, Andrew J. McGann & Son in Chicago, IL.
Always outgoing, and ready to help, Andy was a natural caregiver who loved his profession- and it showed.
As the years passed, the family business grew steadily and served literally thousands of families.

On September 24, 1983, Andy was united in marriage to "Wendy" Kay Johnson.
He was a devoted husband and father who adored his four daughters and "adopted" his two sons-in-law as his own.
A man with boundless vision, endless energy and the skills to do anything he set his mind to, Andy's home was a virtual "Disney World".
Generous and fun-loving to a fault, Andy was forever a kid at heart, and delighted in making good times for everyone.
His personal castle, was his garage where he spent hours polishing and tuning his collection of classic and high performance cars.
In recent years, however, Andy's world suffered.
He battled valiantly to hold on to his dreams and to all that he had created for the family he so deeply loved.
A bold laugh and a brave face covered the pain he carried until he could carry it no longer.
In an instant, for one fatal moment, the man who had such generous vision, could not imagine that he, himself, was more precious, more wonderful to his wife and children, than all the things he had created.
In spite of his tragic death, the memory of all that Andy was, his lavish love and whacky ways, will live larger and longer than the one tragic moment that ended them.

Andy is survived by his wife Wendy;
4 daughters:
Amy (Ron) Hain of Sugar Grove, IL And their children: Mason (2) and Ashlyn (1);
Betsy (Peter) Kraemer of South Elgin, IL And their children: Peter (2) and Cecelia (8months);
Erin and Katie McGann of Elburn.;
2 sisters: Eileen and Elizabeth (McGann),
adopted father, Andrew J. McGann Sr.;
father-in-law and mother-in-law Bill (Florence) Johnson of Lombard, IL;
two sisters-in-law: Lynn (Gary) Hull of Lombard, IL and Kathy (Bill) Elger of Saline, MI;
In addition, he leaves two special "Friends for Life" James Cannon and Gustave Warnke

Andy is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary ("Windy") McGann.

A memorial has been established in his name. Checks may be made to the Andrew J. McGann Jr. Memorial and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.
