Son of the late Otho Carl and Ruby Beaty Shoaf, he was a native of Rowan County. He was a lifelong farmer in the Mt. Ulla area until his retirment about 10 years ago. He was a member of Thyatrira Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances Erwin Shoaf; a son, Joseph Erwin Shoaf of Rt. 1, Mount Ulla; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Ruby) Taylor of Burlington, and Mrs Kenneth (Doris) Rector of St. Petersburg, FL; a brother, O.C. Shoaf of Mt. Ulla; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Richie of Salisbury and Mrs. Melvin Nanney of Duneden, FL and two grandchildren.
The body will remain at Summersett Funeral Home pending completion of funeral arrangements.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Thyatira Memorial Association.
