Mr. W L "Poppy" Stone, Jr., age 76, of Highway 5, Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008. He was born in Carroll County, Georgia on October 5, 1932, the son of the late Walter Lee and Rosa Lee Entrekin Stone.

He was a Lead Man for Mead Packaging, retiring after 42 years of service. He was Paratrooper in the United States Army and a member of the Clearview Baptist Church in Douglasville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Gunter Stone of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Brad Stephens of Lithia Springs; son, Randy Stone of Douglasville; grandchildren, Jennifer Stone and Matthew Stone both of Villa Rica; great grandchildren, Kendall and Tyler Stone of Villa Rica; sisters, Maxine Abercrombie of Carrollton and Reba Jackson of Dallas; a number of sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 21, 2008 at 2:00 pm from Hightower's Memorial Chapel with Reverend Donny Chandler and Reverend Bobby Simmons officiating. Music will be rendered by Angie Justice. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Blake Saunders, Jamie Reynolds, Sean Marvel, Curtis Montgomery, Buddy Dale and Randall Hurst serving as Pallbearers. Mr. Walt Saunders will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm and on Friday, November 21, 2008 from 10:00 am until the service hour at 2:00 pm.
