WILLIAM W. STEELE,
An old soldier, died at his home in Lower Yoder Township, Cambria County, on Wednesday morning, aged 64 years. He was a native of Huntingdon County, where he lived till three years ago. Mr. Steele served in the army during the greater part of the late Civil War, having acted as a private for nine months at one time under the late Colonel Higgins in Company I, 125th Regiment, Pa. Vols. On May 18, 1863, he was honorably discharged at Harrisburg, and on August 16, 1863, he enlisted in Company C, 13th Pennsylvania Cavalry, and was discharged on July 14, 1865, at Raleigh, N.C., by General Order No. 83 of the War Department. He is survived by his wife, eight daughters and two sons.
