Darius was the son of Emmanuel and Susannah Scott. They presented him for Baptism in the parish of Hilgay at All Saints church on November 6th, 1814.

He was married to Charlotte Fletcher on 18 October 1832 in Hilgay, Norfolk, England by Rev. John Hewlett.
They had children:Joseph,Darius Jr.,Sarah Elizabeth, Susan, Levi b.10 March 1846, John, Charlotte and Mary Ann.

After the death of his wife, he and his children came to America about 1851 and lived with William and Mary Cornell (Under the incorrectly transcribed name Dennis [sic] Scott). He married Sophia Beaupre on 21 November 1862 in Wood County, Ohio. He was 49 and she was 18. They moved to Defiance Township, Defiance County, Ohio and then to Garfield Township, Clare County, Michigan.
